In general, the final cut of A Convenient Truth is actually closer to the cut that we used for our first test screening in New York. There were a couple of sequences that worked better for the Pennsylvania test screening, but we realized several changes that we had made actually hurt the film as a whole. That realization was what allowed me to stop tinkering with the film. We’d reached a point where our work was actually making the film worse—so I put down the crayons. (Thank God Avid is more forgiving than Crayola.)
